  2. KMTA Children's Book Release Celebratoin: Hello, Water!

    April 13, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Seward Community Library & Museum Community Room

    A new children’s picture book published March 1, 2019 is the latest in the lineup of Kenai Mountains–Turnagain Arm (KMTA) National Heritage Area publications to be presented in Seward first. Hello, Water! is a story of discovery and transformation as Water changes along its journey through the National Heritage Area. With lively text and vivid illustrations, the book demonstrates the changing features of water as it appears across the landscape of Alaska. Meet author Taylor Hoku Hayden and the illustrator Molly Trainor and enjoy a special reading and refreshments to celebrate the new book. Co-sponsored by Ember Press and the KMTA. Light refreshments will be served. Thank you to KMTA for choosing Seward to release their first children’s book!!

  3. Author Reading @ the Library & Museum: Mar Ka and Monica Devine

    April 13, 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM @ Seward Community Library & Museum Community Room

    Genre-Bending Memoirs: A Conversation Between Poetry and Prose. Poet Mar Ka and Essayist Monica Devine will read from and discuss their new works, inviting the audience to engage in a contemplation of memoir and form. Mar Ka is the author of Be-hooved and Monica Devine is author of Water Mask, both published by the University of Alaska Press and both residents of Alaska. Light refreshments will be served. They are also performing a reading in Soldotna on April 11 at the Kenai River Campus at 6:30 pm, and Homer on April 12 at the Kachemak Bay Campus at 6:30 pm.
