Winter Camping in Seward
Winter Camping is in effect October 1 through April 14.

Our community invites you to stay and play and experience the abundant winter recreational opportunities available in the area. Stay at the Waterfront Park in a small section of Resurrection Campground where the scenery is breath taking. The cost to camp is $5 a night for Dry camping in sites numbered 400 - 403, or if you need electric hook-ups, camping is $20 per night, in sites numbered 424 through 446. Self-contained RV units only, as our water is off and the dump station is closed for the cold season. Garbage service is also not available and must be hauled home or off-site.

No tent camping allowed.

Campers are required to self-register prior to camping.  Use the pay station located at the north entrance of the winter camping area of Resurrection Campground .

We work to provide snow and ice removal. Be warned, however, that conditions change rapidly and often in Seward. Campers must use common sense and caution in the winter camping area. Watch for snow, ice, and uneven surfaces.

Luke1.jpg
Step 1. Find a site

Step 2. Note the site number and your license plate number and find the nearest pay station located near most campground entrance.  Payment shall be made within 30 minutes of arrival.

Step 3.
Follow the prompts on the automated pay station

Step 4. A permit will be printed.  Place permit in a plastic bag and attach to the clip on the post located on the site, if available, or place in the dash or your vehicle so that it's visible to read from the outside.

All campgrounds require that patrons self-register by city ordinance. Check out time is 12 noon.

If you wish to move sites, you may do so, if payment was made using your license plate number instead of the site number.

Reservations
We do not accept reservations for individual campers. We do however take reservations for caravan groups of 10 units or more.

Caravans
Caravans are usually RV camping groups of 10 units or more with one designated trip coordinator. Groups wishing to stay together can make a reservation and will be assigned specific sites in our established caravan area. All RV caravan area sites have electric and water hook-ups.

A Group tent camping area is available in Forest Acres Campground for organizations and non-profit groups. Reservation requests must be made by e-mailing or phoning us at least 30 days in advance. Pre-payment is required. You may call for availability (907) 224-4055 or email us at

RV Utility Camping
We upgraded in 2003 and now have 99 "utility" sites that include water and electrical hook-ups. Sites are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The current price for a "utility" site is $40 per night.  Some of the utility sites are part of our designated caravan area. These specific sites are available to all campers EXCEPT when caravans are scheduled. Prior to site selections, check the bulletin board for caravan arrival and departure dates and sites that are reserved. In 2017, new picnic tables were purchased, to increase the number available to campers.  These tables are on some sites and are in high demand.

Tent Camping

Tents are allowed in any Seward Parks & Recreation Department (SPRD) campground.  Camping is only allowed on designated sites. Tent camping fees are $10 per tent, per night. No more then two tents are allowed per site with each tent fee being $10 per night.

  • Tent Area Campground is designated for "Tents Only" and is located along Ballaine Boulevard near the Parks Playground.
  • William's Park, named after Seward resident, Patricia 'Pat' Williams, who saved the spruce trees with a single phone call, is suitable for tents or small RVs. RVs are allowed if they can be contained on the designated parking pads and do not obstruct traffic.  Wlliams Park is located on Ballaine Blvd on the west side, near the dump station.
  • Forest Acres Campground offers both tent and RV camping. Forest Acres campground is located just outside the main "Downtown-Harbor Seward" area, and near the Seward Military Resort. Turn west on Hemlock Blvd., located on the west side of the Seward Highway and just north of Mile Marker 2, go one block and the campground entrance will be on your left.

Branson Pavilion
Branson Pavilion.JPG
