COMMUNITY SITUATION REPORT
March 18, 2020

This Community Situation Report is intended to keep the community of Seward updated and aware of resources available to them while being challenged with restrictions placed upon them due to the Coronavirus.

Providence Hospital • Providence Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is stood up and is working in cooperation with the city’s EOC
• Use the online self-assessment tool found at www.providence.org if you have any healthcare concerns
• Call ahead if you need to visit at 224-5205

Seward Community Health Center • Front doors are locked; call ahead if you need to visit at 224-2273
• Non-essential appointments may be delayed for some patients

Seaview Community Services • Open and providing essential services
• Working on more tele-access capabilities for clients

Alaska Railroad • Passenger trains between Anchorage and Fairbanks are not running
• Freight trains are operating normally
• Any events scheduled in the cruise ship terminal have been cancelled

AVTEC • Closed for students and the public

Chamber of Commerce • Working closely with the Small Business Association to find aide for small businesses that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19

Seward Prevention Coalition • Have resources and support available for anyone related to childcare, depression, stress, abuse, etc. during these troubling times

Post Office • Open for business as usual
• Increased cleaning protocols are being observed

Fire & Police Departments • Encouraging everyone to take this health risk seriously

He Will Provide Food Shelter • Will be open tomorrow as usual from 3-6 pm
• Clients will receive a pre-filled bag of food outside the facility; no public entry to the facility; clients may notice a shift to receiving more staples than previously
• Volunteer staff is being reduced to the bare minimum in order to protect workers
• Experiencing no interruption in the food supply chain at this time

Safeway • Open for business as usual
• Receiving daily shipments
• Experiencing no interruption the supply chain at this time
• Toilet paper coming in on barge tomorrow
• Special shopping time reserved for elders, pregnant women, and compromised immune system individuals from 7-9 am on Tuesdays & Thursdays

Pharmacy at Safeway • Normal operating hours, Mon-Sat 9 am – 7 pm
• Receiving daily shipments
• Prescription by mail is available
• Prescription delivery is available; requests received by 1 pm will be delivered the same day
• Call the pharmacy at 224-6960 to sign up

Seward Marketplace • Open for business as usual
• Trying hard to work on getting more bulk supplies; are experiencing some limitations in order deliveries

Alaska Waste • Normal operations

If you want to have an update on any location not listed here, please send an email to clerk@cityofseward.net and we’ll include them in the next report. Reports will be sent on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons until no longer needed.
