This Community Situation Report is intended to keep the community of Seward updated and aware of resources available to them while being challenged with restrictions placed upon them due to the Coronavirus.


Public Health

  • Working closely with Seward’s healthcare facilities



Providence Hospital

  • Adhere to CDC guidelines and State mandates
  • Use the online self-assessment tool found at if you have any healthcare concerns
  • Call ahead if you need to visit at 224-5205



Seward Community Health Center

  • Please take the Stay Home suggestions seriously
  • Front doors are locked; call ahead if you need to visit at 224-2273
  • Some appointments may be delayed or rescheduled for some patients



Seaview Community Services

  • Continuing to fully serve clients; accepting new clients
  • Full operations running; observing CDC guidelines



Alaska Railroad

  • Passenger trains between Anchorage and Fairbanks are not running; freight trains are operating normally
  • No cruise line info available at this time
  • Port is open for essential business; healthcare protocols are in place




  • Closed for students and the public
  • Buildings are locked; call 224-6159 to make an appointment
  • Staff is preparing to transition to telecommuting when given the order



Chamber of Commerce

Post Office

  • Open for business as usual





Fire Department

  • Sign up to receive Alert and Advisory messages by texting the zip code 99664 to the number 888777



Police Department

  • Inbound calls to Seward 911 or Seward dispatch that require in person response will be required to answer screening questions to enable responders to adequately prepare



He Will Provide Food Shelter

  • Open Thursdays from 3-6 pm; pre-filled bags of food being delivered outside the facility; clients may notice a shift to receiving more staples than previously
  • Gave out 105 bags last Thursday (up from 97 the week before)

  • Store hours changed to: 6:00 am – 10:00 pm Daily
  • Special shopping time reserved for elders, pregnant women, and compromised immune system individuals from 7-9 am on Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Still having some issues getting basic staples: rice, flour, sugar, toilet paper; no concerns on other supplies; shipments daily



Pharmacy at Safeway

  • Hours, Mon-Sat 9 am – 7 pm PLUS special Pharmacy hours on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7-9 am to coincide with Safeway’s special shopping reserved hours
  • Prescription delivery is available; requests received by 1 pm will be delivered the same day; call 224-6960 to sign up
  • No supply chain concerns



Seward Marketplace

  • Open for business as usual
  • Have some toilet paper and paper towels on hand from last Friday’s shipment
  • Expecting a shipment tomorrow



Frontier Trading Post

  • Open for business



Alaska Waste

  • Normal operations



American Legion

  • Call Mike Calhoon at 224-5440 for info



Kenai Fjords National Park

  • Exit Glacier trails are open for hiking, but all facilities are closed, including public use cabins and toilets
  • Call 422-0500 for information



Senior Center

  • Individuals over 60 years old call 224-5604 to sign up for Meals On Wheels



Dr. Michael Moriarty, DDS

  • Monday – Thursday office is limited to on-call emergency services only
  • Front door is locked; no walk-ins
  • Call 224-3071 for an appointment (call 362-3456 after 5 pm)



KPB School District

  • Resumed meal service today



Boys & Girls Club

  • Serving bag lunches Mon-Fri from 12-3 pm on alley side of Teen & Youth Center (TYC)
