We offer a wide range of programs and activities designed to meet youths' unique physical, mental, and social needs. Our goal is to engage youth in lifelong recreation by building a solid foundation through programs that are accessible, engaging, and developmentally-appropriate.
Boys & Girls Club
We are proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula in delivering youth services to Seward families. There is a long and rich history of collaboration between government agencies and the Boys & Girls Club. Leveraging the unique strengths of each organization produces numerous benefits, including enhanced program quality, accessibility, and affordability.
As of February 1st, the Boys & Girls Club assumed operation of the Teen Youth Center and Rec Room facilities. Below is additional info about the partnership:
Will summer camp be offered?
Yes. The working goal is to be able to accommodate a large number of participants.
What is the cost of membership?
Scholarships are available. Information requested on the Club's registration form is necessary to determine financial need and to comply with reporting requirements for the grant funds that help reduce member costs.
TYC members whose memberships were still active as of Feb. 1st are grandfathered in and are good for the rest of the school year. For additional pricing info, please visit the Boys & Girls Club website.
What other changes are planned?
Ensuring a smooth and seamless transition for the families we serve was identified as a high priority from the outset of this partnership, which is why there will be minimal changes in the near-term. K-5th will continue to utilize the downstairs space and 6th-12th will continue to utilize the upstairs space. Rec Room hours have been slightly modified, now Mon - Fri, 2:30 - 8:00 PM.
As with any new arrangement, there will be minor changes and adjustments as the Boys & Girls Club explores how to deliver services in the most efficient and effective way. Regarding long-term plans, we continue to look at ways to increase programming quality and quantity in order to address the needs of Seward families.
What about the Leadership Council?
The Leadership Council remains a club under Parks and Recreation and meets in the same location.
What about the Snack Shack?
Snack-on! In addition to free snack offerings, snacks are still available for purchase through the Snack Shack. Proceeds go to the Boys & Girls Club to fund more programs and activities for the kids.
What about facility rentals?
Boys & Girls Club continues to offer and now manages facility rentals.
