SEWARD DMV OFFICE COVID-19 NOTICE
To comply with social distancing recommendations related to COVID-19, DMV will be augmenting lobby operations until further notice and will only serve customers in person if they have an appointment.
If a transaction can be done online or over the phone, customers must use that option or wait to visit the DMV at a later date. DMV is only scheduling appointments for commercial driver’s license transactions, driving privilege reinstatement transactions and the original issuance of standard driver’s licenses, identification cards and REAL IDs.
We are encouraging qualified applicants whose license will expire during the COVID-19 outbreak period to Request a Temporary License DMV is making this process available to in-state applicants until further notice.

The Seward DMV is a City of Seward Office contracted with the State of Alaska to provide motor vehicle services to the Seward area. This is a limited employee office and the hours are subject to change. Please check the office telephone recording prior to coming in 907-224-4037. Forms and further information can be found at the Alaska DMV website. Seward DMV does not charge the additional $10 fee for coming into the office.
We provide all the normal services that a State DMV office provides. Written tests are Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Written tests must be started prior to 30 minutes to closing.
Road tests are Mondays and Fridays at 8:30 AM and appointments must be made in person prior to the test date.
CDL and motorcycle road tests must be done in either the Anchorage or Soldotna offices.
Please do not mail Title or Vehicle Registration forms or paperwork to the Seward DMV, we are not able to process any items through the mail. Items can be mailed to the appropriate office in Anchorage. Addresses can be found at the Alaska DMV website.
Items must be processed to closing time. In some cases the DMV door may be closed early to allow customers already in the office to complete their paperwork by closing time. Please be sure to arrive early enough to complete your transaction by closing time.
